SAMSON & DELILAH
LYING GETS YOU NOWHERE - LET'S SEEK GOD
JUDGES 16
The story of Samson and Delilah is an important one. I shall explain the story of Samson and Delilah according to the account in Chapter 16 of Judges.
God is consistent throughout the Bible, His hatred for evil and lies, and desire for us to seek Him is also consistent .
Samson was history's strongest man, Samson is a personal name meaning "of the Sun" and "Mighty Warrior".
Samson was chosen by God to judge the Philistines, However, from the beginning he began seeking women - This attraction led him to Delilah.
Samson was physically strong enough to kill many people, but spiritually weak enough to lie to Delilah, eventually he told her the secret of his strength. This was a tragedy and led to his death.
Some lessons to learn from this story -
Delilah was a deceitful woman with honey on her lips and poison in her heart. Cold and conniving, She toyed with Samson and pretended to love him while looking for personal gain.
How could Samson be so foolish? " Four times Delilah took advantage of him, He could not figure out what was happening the first, second and third time, Surely he should have understood by the fourth time!"
We think Samson is foolish; but how many times do we allow ourselves to be deceived by flattery and give in to temptations and false beliefs?
Avoid falling prey to deceit by asking God to help you discern between deception and truth {good and evil, right and wrong}.

Samson was physically strong enough to kill many people, but spiritually weak enough to lie to Delilah, eventually he told her the secret of his strength. This was a tragedy and led to his death.
Some lessons to learn from this story -
- Samson was set apart for special service to God from birth. However for most part, he ignored his vow of devotion and depended more and more on his strength and abilities rather than on God's.
- Samson was deceived because he desired to believe Delilah's lies. Although he could strangle a lion, he could not smother his burning lust and see Delilah for what she really was.
- You need to decide what kind of qualities you will love before passion takes over. Determine whether a persons character and faithfulness to God are as desirable as his or her physical appearance.
- Be willing to exercise patience. The second observation often reveals what is beneath the pleasant appearance and attentive touch.
- Since most of the time you spend with your spouse will not involve sex; Your companion's personality, temperament, attitude and commitment to solve problems must be as gratifying as his or her kisses and touches.
- Delilah kept asking Samson for the secret of his strength until he finally grew tired of hearing her nagging and gave in.
Delilah was a deceitful woman with honey on her lips and poison in her heart. Cold and conniving, She toyed with Samson and pretended to love him while looking for personal gain.

WHAT WE DO HAVE !!
A born again child of God is on the winning side. We should all be happy about who we have become because of God's wonderful grace and gift of salvation.
It is past time for all to examine the fact that living for God offers far more than the world offers. Although the Bible shows us many blessings one receives when living a separated -led life, Here are some of what Proverbs 10 and 11 says a person following the Lord's commandments has -
A Christian is a mind through which Christ thinks; A heart through which Christ Loves; A voice through which Christ Speaks; A hand through which Christ Helps.
So are you a Christian? Then do not covet what the ungodly have. A child of God has so much and we truly should be grateful and thankful.

JESUS BE A FENCE
As we sharpen our physical sense we also need to sharpen our spiritual senses.
Zach 2,1:5
God said: Don't limit me by measures for he is without limits.
A wall is a wall of defense.
A wall is to protect.
Fire consumes therefore no intruder can come close to a wall of fire.
What we need to do is put ourselves aright so as not to be left behind.

INSPIRATION
Inspiration is the special influence of the Holy Spirit guiding certain persons to speak or write what God wanted communicated to others, without suspending their activity or personality.
Inspiration- The extraordinary and supernatural influence to those who wrote the Holy Scriptures, rendering their writings infallible.
In 2 Tim. 3:16 - "Every scripture inspired by God" this is true of all Sacred writings, not in the sense of their being works of genius or of supernatural insight, but as "Theopneustic" i.e "Breathed into by God" in such a sense that the writers were supernaturally guided to express exactly what God intended them to express as a revelation of his mind and will.
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God. As to the nature of inspiration we have no information, this only we know, it rendered the writers infallible.
All the books of the Old and New testaments are inspired. They are the word of God.

Get Ready!!!
Get ready for God's mighty works!
There are steps you take in getting ready for what God has for us.
Pastor Tope
There are steps you take in getting ready for what God has for us.
- Rejoice: God is able to do all. Rejoice, be happy for what is yet to come. Rejoicing will take on his promises and his wonders, also trusting in what is coming. Rejoice because God has chosen us to be blessed.
- Prepare for the increase: We need to prepare spiritually for growth. Enlarge the place of your tent.
- Dont hold back: Spare not- do not keep things to yourself, give to God and sow seeds.
- Fear not, Don't be afraid: Be still and put your trust in God.
- Know that God is God
- Grow to be able to grow

The Difference Perspective Can Make
What a difference perspective can make - The 1st book of Samuel Chapter 17 in the Holy Bible talks about the story of David and Goliath and the important part perspective played in the story.
In Verse 26 of 1 Samuel 17, David a teenager at that time asked "What will a man get for Killing this philistine and ending his insults to Israel?" "Who is this Philistine, anyway, that he is allowed to defy the armies of the living God?" David saw Goliath from a perspective that he was just a mortal and not a giant to be afraid of.
What a diffrenece perspective can make. Saul saw only a giant and a young teenage boy. David however , saw a mortal man defying almighty God. He knew he would not be alone when he faced Goliath; God would fight with him. He looked at the situation from God's point of view. Viewing impossible situations from God's point of view helps us to put giant problems in perspective.
Whatever maybe your problem, your mountain or obstacles, are you looking at it from the impossible perspective? I encourage you to look at your life problems from God's point of view, have a positive perspective that God is always with you and that the mountains in your life can be defeated and brought to flat landscape.
Criticism couldn't stop David. While the rest of the army stood around, he knew the importance of taking action-with God to fight for him there was no reason to wait. People may try to discourage you with negative comments or mockery, but you must continue to do what you know is right. By doing what is right, you will be pleasing God, Whose opinion matters most.

- When you follow Jesus, you will go places you could never go. When you listen to Jesus, you will hear things you could never hear.
- The world wants you to be the kind of Christian that is quiet and non-threatening.
- Promotion does not come from man, it comes from God. If you do not get a promotion by honoring God, you will never enjoy it.
- We must make a decision not to fear man and only to fear God.
